Data Residency

Overview

Data residency refers to where your operational data — trip records, fare transactions, dispatch events, and operator account information — is physically stored and processed.

Memo gives you control over where your data lives. This matters for regulatory compliance, data sovereignty requirements, and latency. You choose your primary region when your account is provisioned.

Available regions

Memo currently operates in the following data residency region:

Default region

All accounts are provisioned in the Cambodia region. Data is stored and processed in Phnom Penh, with redundant copies written to a secondary availability zone within the same country.

Configuring your region

Your data residency region is set to Cambodia at account provisioning time. The configuration is documented in your service agreement and available to view at any time in your account settings.

Cross-region replication

To ensure data integrity and availability, all trip and transaction records are double-written to a secondary availability zone automatically. The secondary zone remains within Cambodia, so your data never leaves the country — including during backups and disaster recovery operations.

Data sovereignty

Memo employees and contractors access customer data only with explicit customer authorization, except in emergency situations where access is required to maintain service availability. All such access is logged and reported.

We will notify you promptly if we receive a government request for access to your data, to the extent we are legally permitted to do so. We will challenge any request we believe to be unlawful
